Growing a private school to a new level.

Veritas Preparatory School is a K-12 private school that blends Christian, classical, and university-model education for its families.

In its world, it’s seeking to shape the lives of young people into young adults who are courageous learners, thoughtful communicators, and gracious servants. Not just education as usual; not even close.

Back in 2019, however, that identity and strategy wasn’t clear yet. What was clear was that the school had begun to grow rapidly, and that the earlier leadership approach would need to get updated or translated to meet the needs of a larger student body.

There were new questions too, like:

  • How can we all row together in the same direction, and have a shared sense of who Veritas is — beyond just what the board or Headmaster communicates?

  • Are we structured and equipped to lead a school of this size now?

  • What are ways of making decisions and setting priorities that are faithful to who we’re called to be uniquely?

This is where ALIGN stepped in to help. Over several separate engagements, we worked together to:

  • Define the Veritas Identity with radical specificity, including the telos (the school’s vision for graduates, that now shapes everything at Veritas)

  • Equip the board and key leaders for effectiveness, including the creation of a new Chief of Staff role to work alongside the Headmaster

  • Facilitate annual planning for greater thoughtfulness and effectiveness

  • Explore and resolve major problems or decisions as they arose

  • Launch a major upgrade to the school’s athletics program

I have recommended ALIGN to friends and many organizations because they do two things well.

First, they get to know you, your team, your organization and then help you understand yourselves better. Not every company, team, or group is the same, and I believe many leaders struggle due to their not knowing themselves well; and too many leaders try to copy and paste what others are doing. The team at ALIGN understands and will help you understand better who you are.

Then, second, out of that increased and growing knowledge of your team– your passions, your projects, your team’s DNA and skills – ALIGN will help free you up to do the work you were made to do. Rather than pretending to be what you’re not, ALIGN will help you focus on what you do, which I have found brings great peace, both personally and professionally.
